This is tempting, but I got burned by Elegoo on the Neptune 3, when they released the Neptune 3 Pro 6 months later and all firmware updates on the 3 stopped entirely. The Marlin and Klipper community never had an officially supported config (it's been a while since I checked) due to garbage documentation of the board they used.

Lots of people raised this issue on Reddit, Facebook etc, and Elegoo pretty much said too bad.

Hard for me to trust initial releases after that, especially when a lot of "reviews" thus far are from paid YouTubers.

Just my 2 cents.
This is not a resin printer; it's a FDM printer that uses rolls of filament. Here is a link that explains the differences. [formlabs.com]
I found you can use promo code SASE10 to take off another $10. Helps take the shipping cost down.

Yeah I watched the whole thing and or course that's an import detail, but it he also made it sound like this wouldn't be a risk if they hadn't chosen to heat the bed with AC mains. My point is having your bed heat a bit faster may not be worth to risk here.
The guy f'ed up and then tried to make himself not look like an idiot. That's all that happened there. If he had used that same cable and outlet on an electric kettle or toaster he would have zapped himself too. Should we stop buying small kitchen appliances now because they run on mains voltage... all because this dufus was using faulty wiring?

My company recently had a similar incident with a customer. He was adamant there was an electrical problem with our product, but after extensive tests we discovered that the GFCI outlet he was using was faulty. Even after he replaced the outlet and fixed the issue, he still claimed that there was a weakness in the product. He just didn't want to admit that he had wasted a lot of our time by initially refusing to consider that there could be a problem with HIS wiring.

This is how Internet bullshit stories start. Once they take hold, people refuse to look at the facts as they emerge but still hold onto the original account.

I'm not sure it's as clear cut as that. He said it was a combination of the cord and the power strip, which is strange to me. If that is somehow true, then how do we know it's not the cord, the power strip, and the machine?

It might be perfectly fine, but I have a hard time trusting Elegoo anymore.
Elegoo are not at fault in this instance. Maybe you have some personal experience with them that has tainted your view? If I were to guess, I'd bet it's a problem with his multi-outlet, not least since he said it only happened on one of the outlets on it. I've seen those things go bad because the internal contacts are cheaply made and lose their spring, or become dislodged. For anyone with any doubts, just use an inline GFCI [amazon.com] if that means you can sleep better at night.

Elegoo printers are the worst I've ever had. Ive had 3 ender 3 pros, A CR-10s, 4 elegoo neptunes and 2 elegoo saturns. The Elegoos are all garbage.

wait it doesn't have AMS? then what's the side spool thing for? It's just a holder and doesn't do anything else?
just a holder for now.
the machine does have a filament cutter, and a waste chute
Elegoo says "Q3 2025... or sooner" for their AMS system.

How does the slickdeals community feel about Prusa printers?
Josef Prusa and I are in a bitter dispute over the Prusa XL with 5-toolheads in regards to what he is willing to sell it for, and what Im willing to pay for it.
Man if only money was no object. 😅

Bambu stuff really is great. That being said, until you see some REAL reviews from actual humans giving actual reviews... Who knows how good this will be. Elegoo makes great resin stuff, and IMO their FDM is better than Creality shovelware. Which might not be the biggest complement ever. If you buy this, you're gambling. I hope it's as good as it seems it could be, as Bambu is becoming a bit too comfortable on their perch. I'll be honest, this thing seems too good to be true. For the price and features it's remarkable. Too much so. If it turns out to be a good unit, and reliable, Elegoo may have overturned the paradigm as hard as Bambu when they first showed up
The Elegoo discord has real users posting real interactions with the printers. There's some quirks (leveling takes ages), but overall it's plug and print.

Heck, even one of the users has theirs in parts trying to figure out how to make flashing mainline klipper more user-friendly.

I've watched more than a few reviews of this and they all seem very positive. Esp at the $500 price.

I'm very tempted but passing (but sent it to all my friends). I have enough other printers that there really isn't a need for me (and I don't want / run a print farm).

These are all sponsored reviews so I it somewhat lean to most positives things about the printer

I wanted to say the exact same thing. I grabbed a Neptune 3 and it had a lot of problems that didn't have good solutions. It seemed they rushed it out and didn't worry too much about the people that would be stuck with it.

The carbon is sold out but the centauri without the enclosure is still selling for 199.
edit: looks like they're back in stock

I trust the work and testing Dr Igor from MyTechFun puts in on his videos, and it looks like he did one for the Centauri Carbon a couple weeks ago.

Just in case anyone was interested in watching:

I think this is a decent deal, BUT I'm not convinced that it's a great deal. I'm definitely not an Anycubic fanboy, but here are some reasons for thinking the Anycubic Kobra S1 'might be' a better deal for those wanting or needing an AMS.

Anycubic Kobra S1 Combo with AMS
Anycubic.com: $649 (and often on sale). Free shipping and no sales tax for most US buyers
From Amazon in a few weeks: $579 + tax

Availability: March 15-March 25, 2025
spool holder on back
good interior lighting
better camera
mobile app for remote print monitoring
AMS has dryer built-in filament dryer (but only up to 55C)
Plastic door and lid

hardened steel nozzle only available aftermarket at the moment ($28)
hardened steel extruder not yet available ($xx/xx?)
NOTE: Hardened steel nozzle and extruder are for printing abrasive filaments. The included copper nozzle is typically preferred for non-abrasive filaments
250mm x 250mm x 250mm build volume

Anycubic has an Excellent (4.7 stars) customer rating on Trustpilot

Elegoo Centauri Carbon
Elegoo.com: $299.99 + $30 shipping PLUS $xx.xx? for the future AMS):
Availability: "Before June 30, 2025"
AMS availability: Q3 2025
Spool holder on side
poor interior lighting
no mobile app for remote monitoring (but there's a community-created app [OctoEverywhere] that might be handy for this)

Glass door and lid
hardened steel nozzle
hardened steel extruder
256mm x 256mm x 256mm build volume
32 mm3/s flow rate

Elegoo has a "Poor" (2.7 stars) customer rating on Trustpilot

Both printers FOR SURE need some software and firmware updates to fix existing shortcomings. History says that Elegoo isn't great about following up with updates, but Anycubic has had problems in this area well.

God bless America, they've come up with porch pirate insurance.
