I don't know if the price is a good discount but I like it. I have the first version of the table. I used it for about three years on a daily basis and set it up then tear it down several times a day. Eventually the USB-C port on my laptop worn out after about 2000 uses. The fake USB-C port on the tablet also is a bit worn out and had connection issues at times. I got a replacement cable which helped somewhat. If they had this v2 out last year, I would have grabbed one right away. Unfortunately they had a more expensive touchscreen 4K tablet at that time that was true USB-C so I grabbed that, for quite a bit more than this deal price. Take it from me. If you don't have to have touch, get this one. Touch requires glass surface which is slippery to write on and reflective so it's hard on the eyes. This model is not touch, so the friction of the screen is good, better than anything I have used before. Also the surface won't reflect light.

new to learning digit art...
what is your reason for picking something like this (or wacom) over an ipad or android tablet? Hardware, software, price point, touch/feel, connectivity?

To be clear, I was using it to teach physics classes so I was writing derivations all day. I need precision so my pen and the display need to be registered well for me to write something, talk, then return to the same thing and continue. I've used bad tablets. You can keep drawing but once you lift your pen, returning to where you were became difficult.

Regarding my choice, it was how the tip feels against the tablet. The V1 feels like writing on paper, better than anything I've used before including some expensive 2-n-1 PC laptops, ipads etc. I've not used a wacom tablet. Anything with touch capability requires a hard glass thus there won't be enough friction or feels like scraping against glass. The V1 and hopefully this V2 has a softer surface thus closer to dragging a pen tip over paper. If you dig too hard into the tablet you could leave some marks only visible when the display is off. I bet you have some background drawing at this point. So drawing on a paper-like surface should help.
