Crescent and Gearwrench are both Apex Tool Group brands so at the low end you'll see a lot of the same tool marketed under both names (and sometimes OEM'd for store brands etc.)
I was really interested in these, but wanted to see the item working, no video of the auto adjustment on Menards. Found this, something to consider, at least each unit is not $28 anymore, https://youtu.be/ErZhmUnA-I8?si=3D6sza3MB__S6B2v

I bought this set in December for about the same price they are on sale for now. If you're interested in more of an assortment and not a set of 4 slip joint pliers, it might be better. I've used them some, they seem to be high quality, but let's be honest, they are pliers/cutters. I suspect the Amazon Basics would have served me just fine. YMMV

That set is all conventional pliers, and does not have the Auto-Bite feature forged into any of them.
I picked up all four sizes over the weekend - great pliers for the money and auto bite feature is cool. They has these exact pliers in the "Cresent" brand so pick your poison. I picked the GW brand because I have a lot of GW stuff already.

I think these are just re-badged Crescent wrenches. I've seen a few reviews on the Crescent version that the auto-bite lever breaks. Probably ok pliers for the clearance price.

This video was super helpful. I won't be getting these. Thanks for sharing this.

Here's another one that provides a more balanced comparison with Knipex's SmartGrip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhqX3wggzLg
Auto-Bite seems to be a gimmicky feature that's a bit more fiddly than SmartGrip (only auto-adjusts one way) and a common point of failure. On the bright side, it's an optional feature that could be collapsed into the handle when better grip/torque is desired. With Auto-Bite collapsed, the grip span seems to be on par with that of the non-SmartGrip pliers, and you'd retain the nifty ratcheting action that's similar to the Cobra XS. So... if you preferred the grip span of non-SmartGrip pliers, you could simply not use the Auto-Bite.
I almost pulled the trigger on the 6" model for $13, hesitated because it looked too big to be 6", and eventually called it off when I learned that it actually measures 6.9". Now that's just deceptive. I really do not want to cut off the warranty with an angle grinder 🤔

$1.40 pick up fee. I have never paid a pick up fee before in Menards. I added two and total fee is $2.80. So we have to pay for Menards doing their job?
