Had to dig a little deeper for this information:

Quote :
"Goose down" and "duck down" are what they say, and both "waterfowl down" and "down" usually mean duck down or a blend of duck and goose down. Meanwhile, "down fibre" means worthless dust left over from the separation of down and feathers.

hey a comforter newb here that has a few questions:

1) is martha stewart a high quality brand?
2) is white the only color available? I couldn't see anywhere that specifies the color on the product page but the pic is obviously white

Doesn't say the exact "blend" between 'down' and 'feather' but for $30, it's a steal.

Good info.
I've used similar products and wondered why they were so dusty and uneven.

It said dry clean can I just machine wash? Don't want to spend $30 comforter and cost over $50 to dry clean.

We wash our down comforter very seldomly as you're really *not* supposed to regularly but when you do, make sure it's dried thoroughly.

you should know that most "down fiber" comforters are typically around this price anyways.

The insides will never get fully dry and it will mold. Get a duvet cover, you take that off and wash it and the comforter stays clean

Its your run of the mill decent brand with a celebrity endorsement, not high quality, not low quality. They only come in white, you put a duvet cover on it to protect the blanket and choose whatever color you want

Got it, thanks. It looks like I should get a duvet cover for other reasons (the molding/hard to dry issueyou alluded to in response to the other user) beyond the look. Any suggestions for a cheaper duvet cover? I already have one for a king comforter, but it cost more than this particular comforter itself Smilie

I used to work at a dry cleaners, and we always laundered down comforters. It would take hoouurrsss to get the dry cleaning solvent out, and truthfully, dry cleaning isn't good for cleaning "protein stains".. (Blood, sweat, saliva, etc). I do recommend making sure you have it in a big washer, and when you dry it, throw some tennis balls in there to fluff it up as it tumbles. 🥴

So what you're saying is we're paying $50 to these dry cleaners for our down comforters and they're just washing them?! Insane 🤯
