The 40v batteries from greenworks are terrible. All 3 of my 40v batteries no longer hold a charge after only 3 years of occasional use.

Yup I had 3 of them go out on me after 5 years of light use. Still that said this is a good deal if your in the ecosystem

Man, that's weird. I wonder if temperature did them in? My Greenworks 40v batteries that are 8+ years old are holding up OK, but they are always stored indoors. Mix of 2Ah and 4Ah batteries. Relatively light use though.

All 3 of mine were 2ah. Kept indoors around 70 degrees. The 4ah ones likely are better

Regardless of how frequent they are used, batteries will decay over time. If they're stored in a hot garage then factors like that will speed up the decay as well, with or without regular use
