I wanted to share a cautionary experience regarding support for mini PCs. I purchased a KAMRUI mini PC, and after several months—still within the one-year warranty period—the fan started making noise. When I reached out to customer support, the response process was slow, and after a long wait, they finally sent a replacement part. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the wrong one.

I strongly recommend researching these companies before making a purchase, as many seem to be small resellers with limited support infrastructure.

If you're technical, most higher end routers out of the box as well as cheaper ones that support custom firmware allow that. OpenVPN or Wireguard are two solutions that they often include.

im looking at this to use as a point of sell machine for my business. wish I could get a win 10 iot instead of win 10 or win 11 but it is what it is. can anyone find a reason this wouldn't be a good point of sale machine?

does anyone know what is the cheapest mini pc that has an internal switching or switchable psu? or how i would go about finding them, besides randomly clicking on amazon search results
If you mean one that takes AC power directly into the unit with no wall wart, there is a Beelink N150 for $190 that has that feature. I think it comes with equivalent specs of the $160 GMKTec.

Bought one of these in the last go-round to do NAS things with. The 2.5 gig NIC is faulty. Manufacturer, contacted through Amazon, offered to make it right. So I'm just using the WiFi and have stuck it in as a light weight media center PC playing TF2, Battlefield 2, and other old games.

Debian 12 Linux seems to just work, though none of the interfaces came up in the installer.

Definitely recommending to my parents to replace their old, stationary laptops, with one of these.

same store is selling the older version(n100 upgraded) with more ram and storage for $5 less with a $15 off coupon for a combined $20 off this ones price. they also appear to have the same cpu. for this type of pc, id just go for the older model with more ram. but thats just me.

When you get things this cheap your luck is your insurance and warranty 😀 I buy assuming no warranty. Honestly don't even remember which sites I bought my two mini pcs from.

I bought this last week and used a 2tb nvme ssd I had laying around. Did a fresh install of windows and had trouble finding all the drivers to get this thing working. Their drivers download from google drive a sketchy and doesn't work. You'll get an error stating that the download limit has been reached
Should have copy drivers from the windows folder prior to reinstalling the OS

I've experienced this with Google drive while trying to download other files. You just have to keep trying until the limit resets. Usually, I'll get the file the next day.

I tend to do a fresh install of the OS when I get a mini PC from an off brand (i.e.. not Asus, Intel NUC, Zotac, etc.). Windows Update will usually provide most, if not all, of the needed drivers. Many drivers will install automatically, others you will have to click "View optional drivers" to install manually. The only gotcha with doing a fresh OS load is that often the Windows license is not built into the BIOS and you will have to contact the vendor to get it. Good luck.

I got a few of these to replace old office computers.

The USB ports did not supply enough power for bus-powered SATA SSD drives. When cloning an old SSD to the internal drive using bootable Macrium Reflect, the process would eventually stop with a read error. I tried different adapters until I found something that finally worked - a SATA adapter that is powered from a power brick. To be specific, I used the adapter from an external WD 3.5" drive enclosure I previously shucked.

for those who get an error trying to download the drivers on google drive, try downloading the containing folder instead of the .zip file directly, it worked for me that way at least. You can get slightly newer versions of these drivers on the Microsoft driver download site, check the previous sale thread from December for the links.

This GMKTec box is always on sale, limited deal or large coupons on Amazon. Stupid pricing to make it look like you're getting a deal.
true but it remains the least expensive option on Amazon.

You just need a router that has a Wireguard Server to connect to while traveling.
I use my Flint 2 Router, but there are cheaper ones for just using Wireguard.
