You have to log in to actually redeem it. Otherwise clicking redeem doesn't really do anything. Did you log in?
Yeah, I'm guessing they must have been logged into an MLB account. If you're already logged in, then the link will automatically apply to that account. If not logged in, it will prompt you for an email address / login. There were people who reported accidentally burning their code last year too. For instance, if someone had set up a test MLB account to poke around and then forgot to log out of it (the logout doesn't happen automatically) before going over to the T-Life app and hitting redeem, it applies to the account once the link pops up.

As I recall, there is also a way that the MLB subscription can get linked to a user's Apple account rather than an actual MLB account, although I don't recall the specifics of it.

The Wiki instructions are great. I logged in first, and then redemption was a breeze.

You have an iOS link. Crab the code from the link and go here https://www.mlb.com/commerce/redeem/form

Use a browser to activate the code, much easier:

It is best to use a different browser or different private browser window for each redemption when you are redeeming more than 1 code. Otherwise, they track and invalidate subsequent redemptions on same browser session.
