Don't know if they really enforce the five year limit; I'll give this a try once my 2-month Amazon channel discounted price ends. I was able to apply the 60-day PlayStation promo last fall despite being a premium member through Amazon SSO in the past. They would not refund my money but I presented my case to the credit card company and they refunded 1 year of total and all of the extended warranties.
If you give best buy your credit card number read every email they send you even if they send you 16 advertisements in 2 weeks because that is when they slipped in the 2 extended warranties emails (I got 18 emails from best buy in 2 weeks) and that is only because I turned off the rule to auto trash their emails because I was going to buy something.
