You are right. If you go to Sofirn website this light is under the the category of Non-Sofirm.

Let me stress that I am not saying this as a dig or negative of the light which is impressive considering cost. It does not have the fit and finish of the Sofirn made ones but is well built, very functional and nice anyway
It's come full circle to now where the once cheap Chinese stuff is buying the cheaper Chinese stuff, marking it up and selling it?

It's less blinding when working at night, so your eyes can adjust between it being on and off.

difference between a headlamp and a flashlight. you dont need much for a headlamp as you arent trying to see 50 yards, just see what is around you. i have a few of these type of lights and they are very much more than bright enough for a headlamp. i wouldnt want anythikng brighter, to be honest. if you want to see a farther distance, pair it with a flashlight for longer range.

primary use is for hunters, as red wont disturb animals as much. its also much easier for your eyes to adjust to darkness after using a red light. so if you are around a campfire, need a tad more light, you turn that on for a bit, and when you turn it back off, your eyes dont take as long to adjust to the dark.

Yet still dirt cheap and of decent or better quality. It confuses the hell out of me how they make any money but I'm in while it lasts. If tariffs do become a thing this kind of stuff may go away or get more expensive. China factories are strange and they make knock offs of each others products.

I just picked this up full price a month ago and have been quite happy. I use this for night check on farm animals without blinding them after they've been chilling in the dark for hours. It's also nice for star gazing when looking at star charts, without messing up the view. Red is just much easier on the eyes in the dark, but it will distort colors (e.g. green looks black).

Make sure you're not including the "via" at the end of the code. It just worked for me under code: 40XUYLSW.

Would the red light be beneficial for evening walks on pavement, around a darker neighborhood? Currently use a 5k sofirn headlamp that does a fine job.

I do not think I would particular like that. It would keep your eyes dark adapted and the neighbors may like it but the red is so deep it has some almost surreal, other worldly, horror film like quality to it. LIke something you see in a movie when the mobsters or monsters are cutting up somebody with a chainsaw or something.

Got a couple of the D25LRs from AliExpress before and can absolutely recommend these. Slightly heavy like many of their other models but built like a tank. Not having to cycle through the light modes like a typical headlamp is amazingly satisfying. The price has actually gone up by a few bucks from what I paid for before (and the $30 regular price is kinda BS) but this is still an excellent deal.
