Discount is shown at checkout. This is a SlickDeal. I have several Sofrin flashlights and really like them all.

500LM does not seem to be much for the outdoor? I have their 2000lm flashlight which is great.

It doesn't give much detail about the battery. My guess it's a 2200 mah, not a 3000, which is common in most lights. Also Sofirn doesn't manufacture this light, however the approve and sell it. You will notice nowhere on the light does it have Sofirns name on it. And somewhere on its website it makes this reference. That said, it's a good light, I have 2 like this with two white lights instead.

You are right. If you go to Sofirn website this light is under the the category of Non-Sofirm.

Let me stress that I am not saying this as a dig or negative of the light which is impressive considering cost. It does not have the fit and finish of the Sofirn made ones but is well built, very functional and nice anyway

This is more a specialty light for those that want to use red to keep night vision. It is pretty damn bright for headlamp and the red mode is the brightest red output I have ever seen. You can hike in the red mode.

I almost always take that as a given with China goods such as these. You may or may not get service but I find the risk/value ratio acceptable. I still find them tremendous values even considering that.

With much more expensive things you may also find the same when you try to get warranty coverage. People even buy extended and home warranties that do not offer real coverage in any true sense. It is $20 light not a car. It costs what a couple cups of coffee at Starbucks does.

My favorite thing to do with this is put on the red light, burst into a dark room, and yell "COME WITH ME IF YOU WANT TO LIVE!"

That's exactly what I came here for! I was looking to replace my petzl with a red light and flip down diffuser that I got to replace a Princeton tec that didn't have the red light. I found the red so useful, but it's really implemented as a polite way (as it doesn't disturb your rent/bunk mate) to find an item like ibuprofen or what have you as you look through your pack past "hiker's midnight" (last light). I always wished it was brighter for hiking late night without throwing off my night vision or disturbing wildlife (to the same extent)
