It was more because "antibacterial" has specific use cases in medical and industrial settings and was never intended for everyday use by the general public. People have been trying since the 70's to restrict these antibacterial chemicals, there just wasn't enough conclusive data regarding their adverse side effects until recently. Various "studies" claim that these antibacterial chemicals have benefits, but just as many say they actually decrease efficacy of the body's natural defenses by mimicking antibiotics.

Triclosan is one of the chemicals that was outlawed by the FDA and is also marketed as a pesticide. They determined that regular soap and water work just as well at cleaning the hands without the increased environmental pollution. Many health scares involve sensationalism as a means to get people to buy a certain product, and I see this as one of those times where we already bought into it 50 years ago and are just now realizing our mistake as a society.

This soap is terrible. It drys out my skin on my hands and burns them. I would personally recommend the white soft soap with aloe if one really needs a refill size bottle of soft soap liquid hand soap.

This is probably the most watery out of all the Softsoap varieties. It's like they actually poured white tea into it.
