I bought the griddle years ago when it came up on SD. It became one of my favorite pans. The very low sides make it extremely convenient for lots of things i do frequently: frying an egg, making a quesadilla or grilled cheese, or a hamburger. It's kind of like a small comal if you're into Mexican cooking.

These pre-seasoned pans are not really going to be non-stick as you would hope. You need to season them multiple times (at least 4 if not a lot more) to get a good non-stick surface going. The process of polymerization is simple, you heat up a cooking oil and let it change into a non-stick polymer. Lots of good and bad information out there on the process, but generally you can use canola or similar oil. You just need to go very lightly with each round of heating. Basically, you spread on the oil, and wipe it off to the point where you think you need to add more. Then wipe it again. That thin layer of oil will spread out onto the metal surface and convert to a plastic in about 1 hour. Repeat at least 3 more times if not more.

I always see the seasoning method but I've been using a Lodge skillet for the last decade and don't do any of this. All I do is get my pan up to temp when I'm ready to cook, throw in my butter, tallow, or olive oil, let it simmer for a minute then anything I put in there is non stick. Not trying to knock you at all but this is the method I use and it's worked for the last 10 years. Lodge is the best when it comes to new skillets in my opinion, but I'd definitely love to get a vintage Griswold if I could.

Bought a couple a few years back at a SD bargain price. They have worked well for searing sous vide steaks. Get ripping hot in the pizza oven. Don't recommend you do it inside if you have smoke alarms.
