Heads up, this game requires a constant internet connection to play and you can't play offline.

As someone who exclusively plays on my Steam Deck OLED on my daily train commute and on the airplane when I travel for work this a hard no. Otherwise it's an amazing game and brings back so many childhood memories.

Good chance to nab these now if the rumored 3 + 4 Remake ends up being real.

Granted I haven't played the original THPS since like the early aughts, but playing this one, it didn't feel any different when compared to my memories. The biggest difference aside from the visual upgrade is that they for some reason eliminated the animation of you getting back on your board. Now you instead just kinda teleport back on, which I do not like. I imagine this was done because the animation to mount your deck took up too much of the precious two minute timer, but who knows. Additionally, I didn't know or forgot about the always-online connection needed to play. That definitely sucks and makes the price feel a little steep.I downgrade my recommended price to $10.00.
Thanks! Sounds like gameplay is like the original with extra items to collect and more moves.

This game personally made me very sick to play. Your skater moves/ turns much faster than the original. I found it very hard to control. Just kinda felt like a cluster vs. actually skillfully doing tricks. I got motion sickness once after playing for maybe 30 minutes, felt sick the rest of the night. Also, that was playing on a 70" screen ha, but a monitor would be the same given you are closer to it

One other difference is that it feels like far more precision is required to land in the remake than in the originals.

It's probably more realistic, but it definitely takes away from the arcade feel of performing a sick combo and not worrying about landing perfectly perpendicular to a ramp.

Still less technical than Session or Skater XL, though.

I looked it up and confirmed it's true... But a lucky search in the steam forum lead me to this

It's a prick move to have to do this but at least there's a way to bypass the online requirement

I have this on my Oled steam Deck and it works fine offline. Just set your steam deck to offline before you go and it'll work.

For anyone who's played this. How does the gameplay of Pro Skater 1 (remake) compare to the original?
An almost perfect remaster. I've played on PS4 and Switch - solid 60fps on PS4 and presumably PC, Switch version at 30fps and both feel great to play. Controls are just as tight as the original

Looks like it doesn't require always on internet for the Steam Deck.

Good case point for emulating switch on deck since it should not need online to play single player
