I was gonna get it because my daughter likes my mechanical keyboard for typing, but these are red switches, so they won't even feel like a clicky keyboard. I'll go with one of the $20 Aukey's with blue switches, I think. Maybe I can find a quieter brown switch?

I went from blues to reds recently and the biggest difference is just their being quieter. Before this, I had a Corsair kb with brown switches that was good, but I think I prefer the way reds feel while being similarly quiet.

Ymmv, but I'd recommend trying red switches.

I have tried blue, brown and red. I also currently have a EVGA Z20 with their "clicky" keys. My opinion is blue is just too damn loud for most people. If you use your computer alone then you might be ok with them. Brown is by far my favorite for typing. Red are the quietest and perceived to be fastest for gaming in terms of response. I think the brown switches are the best for overall mixed usage.

I still might grab this board to have as a backup since it is a great deal.

I have added o-rings under all of the key caps on my mechanical boards as well. I prefer the slight change they make to the sound and feel. I recommend giving the o-rings a try.

It is hot swappable if you don't end up liking the red switches but you'd probably end up spending more on the new switches than you did on the keyboard originally.

Add me to the list for preferring brown/tactile switches. I started with blue switches and liked them but they are definitely very noisy. I tried a keyboard with red switches and didn't like it at all. Browns provide a nice enough feel without being as actively noisy as blue switches.

Pfft...what is the point of a mechanical keyboard if you're not annoying your officemates?

Glad I waited. I was so close to ordering the same keyboard from the previous deals a few days ago which were $40+.

Doh. Read the thread, decided it was time to update my keyboard, and it's sold out. Those of you that have commented, any suggestions for which to get?
