If this math is right then option 1 is pretty goodI think it's actually 60*2why did you subtract 25?
If you subtract out the price you would pay on your preferred plan for 10 months, that would give you a net cost for the phone. For example. if you like a $20/mo plan, then you effectively paid about $40/mo for the phone ($400). So yeah, option 1 is better unless you typically buy more expensive plans. It would have to be a $30/mo plan to break even on the effective phone cost on the RP deal.

Option 1 is definitely better in my case as I will move the phone to my cheaper carrier once its unlocked.

I bet there will soon be a bunch of carrier deals for this phone but this is a good one out of the gate.

Do we expect there will be better deals if we wait a few months, based on past experience?

I assume most if not all low cost carriers will have a deal on this phone soon enough. But since i want a unlocked phone asap this is a good option. Metro and others require a one year unlock.

Option 1 you don't get the $25 credit without paying for 2nd month, so it should still be $365+tax unlock after 60 days. Still a good deal.
Ok, that does make a small difference in my rough comparison. Thanks for the detail.

My Math seems to agree with others:299 upfront + 65 first month + 60 second month - 50 for 2 months credit. = $375 plus whatever taxes. Sound right?Doesnt ship until 3/4 btw at the earliest. Guess I need to wait.
Not sure you will get both $25 credits.

Is this the phone that's replacing the se3 ? It's listed on the page as a pre order so when would you receive the phone? When will the unlock period begin, at purchase or after I receive it ?

I personally find it disappointing apple is no longer making a phone with a home button, but I've ridden that horse long enuf time to learn how to use the new phone with out a home button. I need a new phone asap , my current se3 memory's full and it's gotten slow and freezes occasionally etc etc. if the unlock period starts at purchase and not after I receive it I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this.

Not a deal. You have to pay for the premium plan like $55 a month for a year. The plan was recently just half that.
It's a GREAT deal if you actually use the service for a year. The phone is FREE!!! You pay tax and almost 50% off the plan of $65 or $60 after you receive a $25/month credit.

Am I right that another way to think of this is that the phone is $300 up front, and then you get the $50 unlimited plan for effectively $25/mo for a year? Seems to be a pretty decent deal
Just a bit OFF. The phone is FREE!!! You pay tax and ~$30 or $35/month for the service for a year. So, if you actually use the service, then it's a GREAT deal.

NOTE: NOT for me 'cause I am with a different service. Wait for Straight Talk 1 month service.
