Because they are cheap only in price. They are not "cheap" lights they are high quality, well built lights with great fit, fisinh, function and durability at a low price. They are nice lights that cost significantly less than any of the makers you list.

A similar Streamlight might cost $100.

I have not had a Wurkkos or Sofirn fail and even have many no name generic china lights are still going strong after ten or more years of use and abuse.

Why would I want more expensive when I can have multiple light in various form factors and function where I need them for still significantly less cost than one Streamlight?

Streamlight also seems to want to suck you into proprietary batteries that you can only get from them which I find very weaselly and money grubbing in a world where low cost 18650 is becoming standard.
i love wurkkos flashlights i have a bunch of them, great quality at a budget price, this is for sure a great price comming from amazon and not waiting for them from china
The TS23 is indeed bigger, it's a jacket-pocket only light while the WK03 could be carried in a pants pocket (it's still larger than I personally want in a pants pocket, like all 18650 lights that aren't a Zebralight).

WK03:
Neutral color temperature
Excellent color rendering
18650 battery (possibly pocketable)
Lightweight for size

TS23:
Lots of output (briefly) for size
Very cool color temperature
Poor color rendering
21700 battery (higher capacity, not pocketable)
Heavy for size

As an opposing opinion, I purchased a Sofirn SC31T that failed after about 6 months. I didn't treat it roughly. I just carried it in my pocket everyday, and after a few months, it wouldn't work unless I smacked it a few times. It got worse until it completely stopped working. It's the only Sofirn light I've owned, but Sofirn just ignored my emails. I purchased it from their store on Amazon, FWIW.

This light is pretty much always this price, BTW. It's currently $10 w/o battery and $13 with battery on their website. $20 is the normal price for Amazon. The light is still well worth $20, but it's not really a slick deal.

Sorry to hear that and I have had none fail as yet and sorry to hear if they do I may be stuck yet I can buy four more and still be out less than one Streamlight. I'm not willing to pay $80 more for the assurance of a warranty when I can spend $20 and get another Sofirn if the one I have breaks.

I'd also argue that one bad item off the line does immediately make a product cheap or factory bad. All manufacturing has failure rate.

I paid $29,000 for very well liked and reviewed car and got a complete lemon. It did not mean the maker or model were cheap and junk it just meant I got a bad one. BTW I got bad service there as well, they seemed to try but it just kept having problems and in frustration I sold the thing at a loss. I did not walk away trashing the factory for being cheap or making bad products or model I walked away mad and frustrated I got a bad one.

Don't get me wrong I sure was not a happy camper and was quite disgusted but we live in a world where stuff like that happens and I have figured out I have to deal with it and move on. With these light we are only out $20 or so if it does go south I am not going to sweat that to much. My options to get assured warranty just cost to damn much besides.

Yeah, I'm aware that I'm a sample size of one. Just thought I'd throw it out there that Sofirn refused to respond to my warranty requests. They're still good bang for buck, especially if yours lasts longer. I run Streamlight torches on my rifles and carry pistols, but I'm willing to go cheaper on an EDC light that isn't subjected to the same g-forces as a gun. My Streamlight TLR-7 on my daily carry pistol has gone through over 15,000 rounds (I compete with my carry gun), and it still works fine. I have broken a few clamp screws on them, though. Streamlight includes terrible quality screws with their weapon lights, but I've learned to replace them with better quality screws, and have been good to go.

Pay attention to the LED in the cheaper version.

Luminus SST40 vs Nichia 519A 5000K

Can you link us to the $10 one? All I'm seeing is$12.99 w/different LED [wurkkos.com].
Same price with battery though.

I used to buy cheap flashlights like the ultrafire wf-502b and thought they were great quality at a budget price too, but i would always be dissatisfied some time later. Instead of buying a bunch of these cheap lights like wurkkos or sofirn, why not just buy fewer but higher quality like Fenix, Nitecore, Streamlight?
Man I bought a lot of wf-502b and still using them today, they were what $3 ea?. However, I just bought these HAUSBELL A100 and they seem brighter.... same price..wf-502b still works though, i only use them in the garden and close range nothing like super far, for going into a dark room or the garden seems fine still for the price.

I haven't had to try to use warranty as of yet but have heard quite few others say the same as you. I did get Wurkkos to ship silicon caps that I stupidly thought were missing but I did find later.

I almost don't expect warranty at the price paid is kind of my point. I weigh and consider that before purchasing these kind of China goods and usually find the cost/risk/reward ratio good with some sour on occasion.

I have nothing against Streamlight, well except that proprietary battery stuff, but I'm just a cheapskate and I do not need top of the line gear for my pursuits like you may. If I go skiing I am not going to be getting Olympic class skis as it would be waste. My guns while very nice at least in my opinion were to the frugal and budget side.

NIce to have some talk with a reasonable person. I could care less about Sofirn or Streamlight but will talk of where I found value. Many misunderstand that as some love, commitment or loyalty to the brand or company and get mad. Many get into the fanboy mode, get all argumentative and brand loyal. I am not a fan of any company and shop where I find value. I have been known to buy from companies that I have personal distaste for if the price is right and the value is there. I'm going on greedy and try to keep morality out of it. Yes it would be nice if they would honor warranty but is is what it is with the China stuff.

None of my Streamlight's need proprietary batteries. My rifle lights can run either an 18650 or 2xCR123a's. The pistol lights run CR123a's, but can run their rechargeable batteries for higher lumens. I run regular batteries in everything just to keep it simple.

It was showing only $4 for me but removing it from cart and adding it again seem to change it to $8.
