I got this yesterday. Amazing drive. It's an enterprise grade EXOS drive
the exos drives should show up as : ST24000NM002H
the barracudas are : ST24000DM001

luckily sitting here with an "NM"

Are these 7200rpm drives? I'm looking to get one for 4K UHD streaming in plex and wouldn't trust 5400rpm for that.
Yes, the Barracuda drives in the enclosures manufactured on 2/25 are 7200rpm.

Seagate drives should come in 3-packs. That way you originally have 2x redundancy, and a third one you can use as a backup as your drives fail, take all your data, and have to be sent in for "repair"..

Kind of a round robin til death kind of thing. I'm just not brave enough to risk it anymore....

sounds like production dates from 12/2024 and older are EXOS.
2/2025 are Barracuda, not sure about drives from 1/2025
Are these available for pickup at the store? (gonna check), I wonder if it's worth picking up and determining if it's an EXOS (I seem to remember reading on reddit about being able to peek inside with a flashlight and determine without shucking)... as while more a pita, .....

Too big to fail, Seagate mystery drives.

Got an Exos 10 tb from Serverpartsdeals for 130 ish. Works great in a Sabrent HDD enclosure.

This logic applies to any brand.

There's almost no chance you'd come anywhere close to overwhelming a 5400RPM drive just by streaming.

if you're not shucking and using this as a NAS, are you still running it 24/7?
yes, running 24/7. My Mac Mini M2 Pro runs as my primary workstation but also server which is the reason I felt NAS was a waste of $350. Why pay that and $120 more electricity per year when I can just run this 24TB drive via USB on my existing server.

Let me tell you, I am overwhelming this drive.

Not that i've seen. I ordered online and had it shipped to store.

You could have a Geek Squad member run CrystalDiskInfo. The flashlight trick is good to know.

I just received two that I ordered from this most recent restock. Shipped from "FINDLAY, OH US" and both are Barracuda ST24000DM001 7200 RPM drives. The one that I ordered 2 weeks ago was an Exos that originated from "Easton, PA, United States"

I just plugged them in and ran CrystalDiskInfo. They report as ST24000DM001 which is listed as a barracuda. The first one I ordered reported as a ST24000NM002H, and after cracking it open there was indeed an EXOS labeled drive in it. If yours shipped from Ohio then it most likely is the same.
