Beware of thick clumby Downey. Supposedly there is a shelf life of 12 months and temperature and age will cause it . My last 4 downy 140oz from amazon purchased 11/24 needs to be water down with boiling hot water. I called P&G and they refunded all 4 bottles.

You are right. I have had the same problem it becomes almost like a paste. I have to mix with water to use.

I was not aware of the expiration of these products until I tried using one of my containers and it came out the same consistency as cottage cheese.

Hmm my LG washing machine specifically states you to do this with fabric softener. I guess you know why.

This is downy for over 4.5 years worth of laundry, with 3 normal loads per week. Too much quality.

I stopped using this and started using distilled white vinegar instead - much cheaper with the same, if not better, results.
