Of course, there are mechanical elements to make that click, and these should functionally make Razer optical purple switches feel like mechanical switches. However, consider that they're not exactly the same kind of device so truly distinguishing mechanical keyboard users might feel and dislike the distinction.

These purple switches [razer.com] are intended to be loud, like a Cherry MX Blue [cherry.de], but have some properties that might be more comparable to a Cherry MX Brown [cherry.de]. Ultimately these are intended for typists more than gamers, despite the marketing. And if you are packing these for school be forewarned that your professor/librarian/study companions might have opinions about the sound.

I wanted the minimalist look but it's actually really annoying for many intents and purposes. No F-keys and even alt+ctl+del is extra key presses fyi.
