[QUOTE=burticus;175877977]This isn't a PPI complaint, it's a cost complaint. If you want a 32" 4K with the same PPI, you can get one for $250.

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=6293716

Is it OLED? No. Is it a "gamer monitor", also no. Is it 4K for 1/4th the price and 90% of the people in the world wouldn't notice a difference using it as a monitor for desktop work?

144hz "gamer monitor" for $500
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-u...Id=6539509

This $1k deal is a cash grab bc "OLED" and "OMG it's 240hz!!!!" which no video card is going to hit at 4K anyway. OLEDs make great TVs. They don't necessarily make the best monitors, but they do make for pricey ones.[/QUOTE

Good point. I relish my 42" LG C2 OLED but wish it was greater than 120Hz but only for old FPS games. New stuff at 4K probably won't make a difference even with my 4070 ti Super overclocked like a banshee.

My current monitor is a 43" LED 60hz and my 4070 struggles to get to 60 @ 4K on most. I go down to 1440p for gaming. Stupid Indiana Jones doesn't even get to 60 @ 1440p for most part, had to turn on DLSS

we seem to have gotten the quote/reply thing mixed up here but maybe I fixed it

This is a gaming OLED. Not even in the same class. It depends what you need. It's like asking how a three row suv compares to a pickup truck. They are for different uses.

Most Oled panel have a pretty unique subpixel matrix shape, and most operating systems struggle to generate fonts clearly on them (e.g. Windows ClearType), causing text to not look as sharp as on a equivalent IPS panel (same pixel density but blurrier text)
That's not relevant at this pixel density.

In addition to 4K, it does 1080p natively too, a resolution at which plenty of video cards can achieve very high refresh rates

Could get it cheaper at LG site but Costco's easy return policy would be a much better deal in case anything go wrong with the monitor. Picking one up!

This monitor is obviously bigger, oled, 240 refresh rate so will be great for gaming

the apple studio display 27" not oled, but really hi ppi so will be one of the better options for anyone using a macbook for work/video editing etc dealing with text/color

For those who may have missed it, this monitor uses a LG Display W-OLED panel with matte coating (as compared to Samsung Display QD-OLED with glossy coating found on most other monitors out there).

The matte option is better if you are planning to use the monitor in a bright room/with direct light on the display.

However matte option really gets people animated as the coating layer can make the image (particularly text) look "muddy" for some. Compared to the competition this monitor can also consume 2x the power while not getting as bright (limitation of W-OLED). This model also has an active cooling fan instead of a graphene layer on most other oled monitors. The earlier Dell OLED monitors had fans which are reported to get louder with time. Not saying that will happen with this LG monitor but Icymi.

As always though, price can be a determining factor. No brainer for the ~$600 as per the comments in this thread.
