Don't get it unless you bake. As far as I know it's the main thing it's good for. I've made mock guava cream pies (like the ones McDonald's had/has) with it using pie crust, cream cheese mixed with powdered sugar-vanilla-egg, and this guava paste.
Though I have made guava icecream with it in the past and it turned out nice.
Or just guava paste with sliced cheese or queso fresco.
Or add water and microwave and it's like a jam/preserve.
It's only $1.12 now and I didn't know I needed this until this post...LOL! Love trying new things, sounds great with cheese and puff pasty of just cubed with equal size of cheese as an app.
This stuff is so fun to eat. Try it on Ritz crackers with cheddar cheese and olives! The saltiness of the cracker, the savory taste of the cheese, the tanginess of the olive, and the subtle sweetness of the guava paste all complement each other perfectly.
soo... what is guava paste anyway?? I'm familiar with the fruit, but 'paste' in particular... Just dehydrated, pulped fruit, or maybe what's left over after being juiced???
This is the weirdest "I don't know what this is, but it's on sale so I'll buy it" deal I've gotten on Slickdeals so far
It's really popular in Brazil! I love it.
I served a Mormon mission there.
I had a companion who would eat a.. maybe an 8 oz ones? almost every night with a mini carton of heavy cream. Yet he was thin as hell. 😅
It's also very yummy with cheese.

I dont see $1.12 but i see it for $1.32. Am I missing something here? I know i know is only 20c but was just curious.
I added a couple to an amazon order I was placing anyway an hour ago, and they were still $1.12 then. Not unusual for prices to be adjusted relative to sales #s, trying to clear some old stock or whatever. Once the target is met (sell 100, 300, etc.) the price automatically comes back up.
Guava fruit is reputed to be a good source of Vitamin C and potassium. Unfortunately this product has too much added sugar (15g per tbsp). Would have jumped on a similar low-added sugar product.

If you like sweets, and like fruity sweets then this is a treat, I don't like the fruit itself but this paste I love, as a turnover with regular dough or puff pastry from pillsbury to make my life easier, that being said, you have to like fruity desserts, I already was planning on buying one to make some "bride fingers" like my mother used to make when I was a kid and now saving 44% is a no brainer

Iberia guava paste is IMHO the best option of generally available ones. It's less known than GOYA but much better quality. (Slightly different flavor that I prefer but isn't as nostalgic)
First ingredient in Goya is sugar vs. Iberia's guava pulp.
