Negative. The Best Buy 24tb I bought a couple weeks ago was still exos.

Right but if you look at the most recent talk in the Best Buy thread all the new production units are Barracudas. So you likely got one of the last EXOS.

These have been going on sale on and off since December. I bought one from the first deal about a month ago and the drive arrived DoA - kept making drive failure noises and clicks. Couldn't even verify disk health. Ended up returning.

DOA drives is more likely the result of a careless UPS driver throwing around the package before it got to your doorstep, than anything in the manufacturing stage. They are mechanical HDDs after all, you can't make them invulnerable to abuse.
