Hello Slickdealers!

As we continue to work on improving and enhancing Slickdeals, one area that we are focusing on right now is the redesign search experience. If you've recently utilized the newest version of our search page, we'd love to hear your thoughts.

Your feedback is important to us and will help us shape the future of the search page. If you'd like to tell us what you think about the new search experience, please complete this questionnaire [surveymonkey.com]. It should take approximately 5 minutes.

If you're not sure if you have seen the new search experience yet, please see the attached screenshots showing the new vs current versions of the search page.

Thank you for helping us make Slickdeals even better.

Remind me again, how do you utilize an updated search page?

I have Slickdeals mapped to my search bar app.

So how does this differ from the original experience, and what is the goal?

Our goal with the search is to help users find more relevant deals, which after significant experimentation we were able to prove that this is now performing better than the old experience.

The main difference is a simplified interface (with a new grid view) powered by a new search algorithm that should show better search results -- in particular, we're now promoting more recent top content, so there is a nice blend of recent & popular deals.

We've kept the basics: showing expired deals, generally the same layout, the thumbs, and most of the common filters.

Give it a shot and let us know what can be improved!

New search doesn't work. If you have a working backup of the previous version try searching "instant win" and then compare to the new search engine.

Search is a power tool, not a novice tool.

Power users use power tools.

If you design a tool for an idiot, the idiot still can't use it effectively, because the idiot is an idiot, but nobody else wants to use it now either because it was designed for an idiot.

Can't find anything, must not be an idiot?

Selecting page 2, or last page, etc, resets all filters

The look, spacing and results are worse than the classic version. And worse than what the redesign version search results used to look like until recently. Relatively recently.

too much empty space in the middle between the thread listings and pages and dates and whatever else is on the right side.
Harder to read and much less data. don't know why the search results are different as well. I don't know what was wrong with it previously...

I wish I didn't have to go back-and-forth from redesign to classic views. The classic version packs more data onto the page and is much easier to read quickly. It's a good look I wish you guys could incorporate into the other versions.

don't know if I should've posted this as a thread but didn't see anywhere else…

OK thanks, go ahead please. I edited, and fix some typos on my post.
I've also been having this problem not being able to reply to a post like just now. In the redesign version when I click on reply to your post, it doesn't give me a box to reply so then I have to scroll to the bottom of the page to click on classic version to be able to reply right now. in threads I can usually post a comment where it says I can do that, but I can never just hit reply and get a box to type in. Just nothing happens. I never go to the mobile version I just don't like the look of it and the functions I tried. I avoid downloading extra apps, do slick dealers like the app? Is it worth it?

I moved the post like we discussed.

The apps for both Apple and Android have been getting major updates, so now might be a good time to check them out.

OK just now I see the search results page has changed again, it's better. I don't have time to test it out fully until I need to use it though. I will probably always dislike the style of these newer designs,

Am I the only one that has a problem being able to use the reply or comment button at the bottom of the thread? I do need to update os probably
