More like Gopro killed themselves. They've had overheating issues since forever while DJI somehow solved them by the Action 3.

I was deciding between the Hero 13 and the Action 3, and Gopro has multiple issues (sometimes just doesn't record) while DJI just works
GOPRO's are still great for what they do. It's just that now they have some healthy competition.
IMHO they still trade blows on cutting edge features and GoPro has still more loyal customers, but DJI is probably the clear winner in reliability.

I would recommend finding these on your local FB market. I got my Action 4 used with memory card, different accessories for $140 (of course YMMV)
Money well spent as I used it to record our trip to Vietnam. I didn't encounter any overheating issue, even with knockoff batteries (bought extra from Amazon).

For those comparing with gopro, I like the gopro interface and apps better but the action has waaaaaaay better low light performance and battery life. I think gopro looks better during daytime but night shots are garbage

  • The DJI Osmo Action 6 should succeed the Actiion 5 Pro
successor to the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro and the first 360-degree action camera from DJI could both be launching very soon,

of course not... because 1. if this product was made in the US it would cost $4000 2. if this were made in the US the employees would've formed a union and sue the employer for various violations... 3. if this were made in the US the development would've taken 10 years and subject to 8 gov agency only to come back to say no... welcome to America
But he is talking about how China stole US patient thou? I am ok with buying stuffs from China but not with stealing lol

None of off the Official DJI device control apps are on Google Play, that's why they have their own downloads on their website: https://www.dji.com/mobile/downloads/djiapp

DJI wanted to parter with GoPro. GoPro said "get f****d we are doing better on our own". So DJI went to develop their own action camera. Thus, owning them.

well that and Gopro has only ONE product line, the action cameras. They tried drones earlier on but DJI just demolished them.

I mean, unions ended up complaining and moved us towards a 40 hour work week, which was a vast improvement.

Good price, OP. This bundle went FP in November for $220.
Bought the same bundle, at the same price of $199 from Costco in December 2024.

That in itself isn't necessarily a red flag. Why would they want to pay the ridiculous 30% fee to Apple or the equivalent fees to Google just to be on their app store?

Based on what Ive read, I have no sympathy for GoPro. This is a superior product at a lower price point - GoPro squandered many opportunities for improvement in price and performance. Better and cheaper alternatives are good for us consumers.

Any rational consumer will spend the least to get the most, regardless of whether the product is made in the US or not.

Excellent question!

I'm curious to know this as well. I have one of their Gimbals (Osmo Mobil 3). I use it mostly without the app. But, stupidly, some functionality requires the app.
