I know it won't fit in most/any laptop(s), but I'm not even sure it will fit in most common external enclosures. I know it's double sided, but is it thicker? Any other caveats?
They're still too pricey, but I'd like to have a portable 8TB backup drive, and several storage drives too.

Not using as much now, work blocks those device now. But it was still very reliable. Heat was never an issue.

If anything, I have to thank China here. They burst the bubble with DeepSeek of so many AI hallucinating delusional startup pitches. Which in turn, soaked up all the supply.
Edit: remember when storage options doubled every year or two along with other specs? why has that stopped? it seems the typical storage on most laptops/PCs was 1TB 10-15 years ago and hasn't changed much since.
It's 2025 and Apple's still selling $1000+ devices with 128GB (iPhone 16 Pro) or 256GB (Mac Air)! They are really gimping their hardware to coerce users into paying for iCloud subscription.
