Definitely been in situations where I'll have no room to swing a larger ratchet but ill break it loose with a 1/2 or 3/8 in and then use the 1/4 to get it all the way off since I can swing(ratchet) the 1/4 much more
but to his point... you don't need oversized impact rated 1/4'' drive sockets for that, you're not using it to break the bolt loose. a nice small set to keep things compact would be much preferred.
i've been in similar situations, but just grab either an open end wrench or a box end if i can get at least a finger over the bolt head to guide quickly.

So many questions...
Why would you use 1/4 drive for impact?
What's the point of 14 inch socket with 1/4 drive?
Seems like easy way to destroy 1/4 drives

Ordered these at this price last time Home Depot had this sale (January). Received an email after a week they were backordered, and if they didn't ship by end of February, they would cancel my order.
I chatted with Home Depot that it appears there are plenty in stock online right now for $37. HD customer service insisted the website was wrong and they'll cancel my order if they don't ship by end of February.
Imagine my surprise to see this deal today with 160 in stock still waiting for my order from last month. I just went ahead and bought another set and will begrugingly return one if both manage to ship.

As a side note, it seems like after the last round of sales on the 3/8 metric/SAE kit, they've lowered the non-sale price to $111 (from $140). So tired of these pricing games.
Other than the impact vibration pluses
Does a 1/4 inch drive have enough ummph ?
The shockwave 3/8 and some of the other high end brands reduce down right away after the drive end, but until you get to 13-14mm a 3/8 drive wall thickness is thicker than the wall thickness needed for the hex drive end. Cheaper sockets often only reduce at the very end of the socket so they're even worse. If you have a deep and tight recess with a bolt at the bottom these may be the only thing that lets you get down into it with an impact rated socket especially if it's deep enough to need an extension. Your average DIYer may never need these, but they definitely can be useful.

Seems like easy way to destroy 1/4 drivesIt's says "100+ bought in the last month." Maybe small engine mechanics...?
