I would consider going to AM5 instead, since you are not on AM4 it would perhaps not be wise as far as future upgrade path to jump head first into AM4 platform now since it is a dead end path for you after this CPU
I bought a 5700x3D for $275 before taxes. Should I return and buy this instead ?
275$ is expensive but i guess you came in late..they were at like 180$ but all dried up at that price.
5700x3d is faster in games, 5950x is faster in processing
Same, still rocking this and an RTX 3090 FE, no issues. I have no compelling reason to upgrade.
same setup....finally changed thermal pastes on both after four years....running cool and smooth as buttuh...but i'll be looking on the sidelines tho...haha

In past generations, I was always someone who wanted the latest and greatest (hence buying a 5950X and 3090 FE during COVID when both were released). Now, if it satisfies my current needs, especially in this economy, I happily keep it and march on and don't get caught up in the current gen hype.

a 3090 is beefy..its one of those cards that keeps "high end" performance

I'm still on my 4930k I built 10yrs ago, I never need to upgrade that I tho.should I get it or AM5? Right now 4930k is still enough with 4090. I know by the time I need to upgrade, not even am6 would be still available besides on eBay.

I've been putting together aliexpress 2011-3 Xeon builds and many of those CPUs are significantly faster both single thread and multithread. They also have a boatload of cache and they are sometimes significantly holding back a 6650XT when I test them. A 4090? Is this a joke?
