Shooting 4k120FPS on my sony camera (Sony a6700) requires v90. This may be a pretty specific use case, but thought it would help.

Whoa! Pretty expensive for SD cards. Is there a reason?

I'm not sure it worth the premium over the v60 cards, I think their 256G v60 cards were about $30 each (I have a few). This is because I have yet to experience any camera record settings that works on the v90 cars that doesn't work on v60 cards. Settings that doesn't work on v60 cars often requires CF Express or external drive. Granted I only have a few cameras, but I do want to know does anyone have a use case that's so specific that requires v90 card?

I've been waiting forever for a v90 chip to go on sale. I can't get the coupons to work though.

V90 is needed for my Sony A7sIII at 4k120. There are other settings that a v90 card won't even work for and you need the faster CF Express cards: https://alphauniverse.com/stories...y-a7s-iii/

In case anyone is unaware, UHS-II cards will only run full speed in devices that specifically support UHS-II cards. They'll still work in UHS-I devices, but you won't get the full speed.

Coupon worked fine for me on 128 gb. I've only been using 64gb cards due to price. Useful for non video as well. My camera clears the cache much faster with these. As other commenter said you need a UHS II device to get the highest speeds.

The codes work if you go directly from the OP link and dont stray from the page. Checking prices and other items breaks it.

Can you say whether shooting at 4K 60FPS on the a6700 requires v90 cards or is v70 enough?

Shooting videos at high bitrates and quality formats and continous shooting raw images will take advantage of this. I can definitely tell the difference with the cache clearing comparing v90 to v60 to v30. Everyone else looking for sd expansion won't benefit from the speed. I doubt any other devices besides cameras will have uhs ii specifications since they will probably just use nvme or other types of storage.

The same reason people buy PS5 Pro - better specs on paper with a massively higher price & marginal real world difference.

No benefit whatsoever to 99% of photographers or videographers. only necessary for recording in crazy high bitrates. The people who need this SD card know they need this SD card. if you have to ask, you don't need it.
