I believe it is the shape of the metal object that decides whether it's safe to use or not. I was surprised when I learned that.

Sure, but once it's got a scratchy scratch, then it's gonna sparky spark…and maybe go boom boom.

Metal is fine in the microwave, depending on the shape of the object you're microwaving, and as long as it doesn't cause arcing.
Microwave popcorn bags and "crisping sleeves" (think hot pockets) even contain metal.
Some microwaves even have metal grates for adding a second plate of food above the first.

I don't know if it's just them trying to CYA, but I will pass on these because there do exist metal bowls that don't require the lid be on to be microwave safe.

Great deal for those that don't mind, though!

I watched a promo video for an early microwave and they used to advertise that you could put metal in there as long as you followed a set of guidelines. I think the tldr was that you don't want short bridges for metal to arc across.

I am not condoning this behavior.

Just wrap the bowl in foil before microwaving.

I'm in for a set... Apparently they are pretty nice bowls, even without the microwave capabilities

shape is a big factor in sparking in a microwave.

Curios how these absorb the energy... a common test is:
--put the test object in microwave empty
--put a mug of water next to it
--microwave for at least a minute

if object remains cool, it's microwave safe for heating and cooking
if object is warm, it's microwave safe for heating only.
if object is hot, it's not microwave safe

Or what about when you either don't put the lid on securely or as has happened to all of us, the lid comes off due to pressure. If you're buying this, get a car type camera to film the aftermath. Such would be good for suing afterwards and/or putting on TikTok to gain clicks and followers.
I was going to say the same exact thing....lids pop off all the time...especially if "air tight" sine the heat/air expands when it gets hot.

Reviews say they nest without lids.
