Do not buy these drives. The cache never empties, so write speeds plummet dramatically over time and there's nothing you can do about it. Hynix never released any firmware updates. Avoid!

To be fair, "write speeds plummeting" is still about 3000MB/s, which the vast majority of people will not notice unless they're transferring massive amounts of data on another 3000+ MB/s capable drive. I, as a video editor, use the Solidigm P44 Pro (same hardware with slightly different software) as my OS drive and never notice the difference.

Is it concerning that Solidigm hasn't figured it out yet? Sure. But if you follow other top Gen 4 NVME drives from the same era, like the Phison E18 and Samsung 980/990 Pros, they've also had problems,Phison's problems still are persistent and Samsung's while fixed were much more damaging to the data and the drive itself.

Haven't looked into the Platinum but the P31 Gold was the best PCIE Gen 3 SSD I ever bought. Extremely low power consumption in my laptop and high endurance. I'll probably pick one up the next time I'm near a Micro Center.

From a reputable source:

"SK Hynix has not issued a single firmware update in the lifespan of the Platinum P41 drive, affected users can expect write performance to stay around 1,500-2,500 MB/s when it should be 6,000 MB/s."

TLDR: Write performance will degrade 58% - 75%, guaranteed.
