For those who don't know, Chase [chase.com] is celebrating 15th anniversary of the Chase Freedom card.
To that end, for Chase Freedom and Chase Freedom Flex card holders, there is an additional 5% bonus category for March only, which is Tax Preparation and Insurance. This is in addition to NCL, Grocery Stores, Gyms, and Hair/Nail/Spa.

Hopefully, this helps those that still need to file their taxes. And 5% off those large insurance premiums is always appreciated.

NO. You do not have to re-activate to be eligible for this offer. As long as you activated the first quarter 2025, you are also activated for the March-only tax prep and insurance offer.

If you have not activated first quarter 2025, then yes, you must activate. Deadline is March 14:

every insurance company I deal with either doesn't offer credit card payments or would charge a fee so not sure this is at all worth it.

AAA does not accept credit cards - only debit. Can I use Freedom as debit card, still earn 5% for car insurance payment?

It's not possible. A debit card can be used as a credit card, but not vice versa

That's just me though.
GEICO doesn't have a surcharge. My home insurance is with The Hanover, and they instituted a fee in the last year. It's a little over 2%, so still a good deal with the 5% back.
