Big initial deposit required, but banks paying 4.3% on savings typically do not pay sign-up bonuses. Getting both a good rate and SUB is nice, and unusual.

No direct deposit games - nice. Finally, a bank that doesn't care where the money comes from.

The risk here is that you have to keep $5k in for 60-90 days to get the 4.3%, but CIT can lower the rate in that timeframe. However, CIT has historically had good rates on this account for quite a while - not at the very top of what is available, but certainly within shooting distance of the top. I would expect them to remain competitive.

Any idea how easy it is to transfer to/from CIT? I have my savings in a 3.61% right now so 4.3% is higher/better but curious how hard it is to transfer out if they drop it too low.

Extremely easy, assuming it meets the term agreement.

I paid off a car in full with direct transfer from them and it took only a business day.

so it sounds like you'd recommend them? it's my emergency fund so I don't "need" it right now, but I have it at my current bank so I would ideally hope it would be easy to transfer back if needed. the extra .7% adds up

I've had them for about 5 years without any trouble.

The only confusing part is their savings account types seem to have a lot of overlap, aside from their rates.

Hopping from one to the other was instant, though. Didn't even have to talk to anyone about it.

I'm considering doing the same with Platinum, coming from Savings Connect.

I have an existing Platinum Savings account and signed up for this Wednesday following the link. Just follow the " Already a CIT Bank customer? Sign in to your accounts to enroll" link and step through it all. I never got a confirmation email though so I stepped through it again and it said I was already enrolled. Started pushing funds from another account yesterday.

Takes 3-5 business days. Just make sure you do transfer well ahead of the time you need to spend the money.

High income, low living expenses.
$50K cash is not that hard. By the way, it's bonus payout season if I am not mistaken.
