Big initial deposit required, but banks paying 4.3% on savings typically do not pay sign-up bonuses. Getting both a good rate and SUB is nice, and unusual.

No direct deposit games - nice. Finally, a bank that doesn't care where the money comes from.

The risk here is that you have to keep $5k in for 60-90 days to get the 4.3%, but CIT can lower the rate in that timeframe. However, CIT has historically had good rates on this account for quite a while - not at the very top of what is available, but certainly within shooting distance of the top. I would expect them to remain competitive.

Got my $300

Did the fake transfer to see if they would bump up my APY. I did not get that offer. LOL.

Canceled the transfer and will keep it with CIT. Their rate is around 4% which is still higher than most.
Your better off w/ the marcus 13 month NO penalty cd, where they just increased the rate to 4.15%, at least your guaranteed that rate for 13 months and can access your $$ any time after 7 days w/ no penalties... you can also open it and have 30 days to fund it while it locks that rate in for you... If rates go down this year , the 4.15% will look real good for 13 months!

I hadn't heard of this no penalty CD. That's interesting. Not sure I would bother opening a new account to gain .015% more interest, but good to know it exists. Thanks.

It's not about getting the extra .15%, in a month 1-3 months they are going to lower rates, then cit will be 3.75% or lower. wouldn't you rather have a nice 4.15% for 13 months guaranteed? Opening a marcus account takes 5 minutes and the cd less then that.. if you need the money later , just open a few of them and you can redeem one of the cd'd any time you want as it's basically a liquid account w/ no penalties, best of both worlds.... what;s also nice is that all of this is done on there online site, opening , closing the cd's, funding it all done with a click of a button.. you never need to call , etc..

It's not a bad deal, but seems like a hassle to chase rates that are less than half a point more. People were saying 6-12 months ago that in a month or two they would lower rates. It didn't happen. Not saying it won't this time, but nothing is certain with this market.

I moved my savings to SoFi, but they have lowered the APY from 3.8% down to 3.3%, which i don't feel it's entirely bad, however, would it be a good idea to have 2 savings and move money from SoFi to Citi Bank? Anyone has any comments or recommendations?

no, sorry new account member only.... How about a "maybe" (I read the entire offer) - see URL https://www.cit.com/cit-bank/plat...ngs/PS2025 [cit.com] (after info for new members, it has exceptions - Sorry about that, hope this helps.
This offer works for existing customers who already have a Platinum Savings account as well. I signed up for it before I even saw the Slickdeals Post. You have to read the fine print - basically use the link and sign into the site through the promotion link. It's easy from there.

This is only lukewarm, imo. Etrade by Morgan Stanley was doing $500 for $50k/$750 for $75k and it was 4% interest back in the summer.

Yes, I would split it up as long as they're all high-yield.

How long you maintained the large balance (25K or 50K) after the initial deposit within 30 days? Also how long you kept the account open? Thanks!

Do you have to keep the one-time deposit of 25K or 50K for the entire bonus fulfilment period (60-days from the funding date) if not how soon folks have taken the one-time deposit back?
