If you have a processor with a lot of cores the only way to get this to run is by starting the app, then disabling cores to 16ish or less. Otherwise crashes.

Steam forums has some notes on it. I may not be exactly what I said but it is a bit of a hassle of some processors. It took me a bit to get it resolved. Wish I could find a way to limit it at the start with only x amount of cores.

I found a used RS tone cable on ebay for about 10 bucks. The game is okay, if you already play guitar, its weird looking at the fretboard on the screen. It's the opposite way I would prefer. Hard to get use to.
I had the same issue, but in the settings you can change it to inverse.

So, do you hear yourself play in the game, or does it just use your guitar as a glorified guitar hero controller?

Is this really useful for learning the guitar? Its been around a long while, so I have to assume there is something to it.

If I buy this and find the required cable, can I play anything other that what is provided? Someone mentioned custom songs? That doesn't get blocked by the software or anything?

Thanks!

I have this on Xbox360 and it's great. So I DL'ed it for the PC because it was cheap but it doesn't have any of the music on it. Apparently they lost the licenses for all the old music and the digital versions don't include it. Just FYI.

Yes, you hear yourself play. It will teach you how to play songs, and it has some basic lessons on playing the guitar and bass, but it's not an all encompassing tutor. However, it is great for building speed and dexterity. Customsforge is where you get started to add custom songs (cdlc).

Where can I get Ubisoft Rocksmith Tone Cable - Standard Edition or off market unofficial one
Don't need one. Get a cheap interface instead.

For the technically comfortable this is probably fine, what about those who are not?
You don't need to do any patching if you have a microphone input.

A 1/4" to 3.5mm guitar cable will work out of the box.

In fact, it's actually the ideal method because virtually every USB audio adapter adds latency.

If you already own RS then I believe you already have it.
Back in the day the answer was no. You had to download a $10 custom pack to import the RS songs that you already have.

Fun to mess around with but I would not recommend this for leaning the guitar. There is a small input lag that causes a delay between when you hit a string and the sound comes through. So you either have to hit notes early or deal with the timing delay. Some people might not even notice it but if you are serious about learning guitar or any instrument the most important part of music is having good timing. I have been playing music for 25 years, guitar, bass, dums, piano and it drove me crazy.
