Both the Costco models are are only a peak of 500a... the more amperage the better when you are jump starting a car. I had a Anker 400a model and bought a 900a generic replacement, which blows it out of the water. I would stick with at least 900a to be safe in general.
These things really are incredible. Great not to have to keep bulky cables in the car...let alone not having to find another care. restarts in seconds.

Are these good or better to get the TYPE S 8600mAh or Michelin 10,000mAh LiFePO4 from Costco?

LiFePo4 will last a lot longer, and is safer too.

I have the typeS from Costco for a few years. It has worked every time (5 or so times). Biggest displacement engine was 3.6L, it was at about it's limit. Engine turned over but definitely slower

I have this exact model. It worked well the one time I needed to use it. The battery depleted to about 25%. But I went to charge it, it showed it was back to nearly full right when I plugged it in? So yeah I wouldn't trust the indicator to be accurate. I recommend keeping this charged fully if you ever wanna use it.

I feel like if I was going to get one of these, and could afford it, I'd probably get a better brand with a better reputation. I think this is probably ok for most people with smaller cars though. If you live in extreme hot or cold climates, be a bit weary.

I would go with an Amazon LiFePO4 over the Michelin.

Both are going to cost 3-4x this, but will last 10x longer.

Especially if you keep them at 75% charge. Latest data shows LFP/LiFePO4 lasts much longer at lower charge with fewer charge events.

Easily could get a decade out of a well maintained LFP jumper. By the time it fails there probably will be ones that can add EV range on the go.

I bought the orange one August 9th, 2023. It was $40-45, I think. I've been happy with it! I jumped my E-450 6.8L V-10 bus last summer without the battery no problem! Obviously not going to be as good in the winter. Leaving it outside in freezing temperatures will also reduce its power. When it was -40°, it was worthless. So it's good to keep one inside if you think your battery won't start in the cold.

Being able to run this on USB C is also great, because I've lost the adapter for my other one.

I was having issues using this as a battery bank to charge my devices, but it may have been user error.

Oh, and Woot! had the 4000A for $55 on Sunday, but not anymore.

i know its expensive but the NOCO GBX45 one with USB-C is very nice (think it was 25% off during Thanksgiving).
I had a party last week, and i left my blinkers on when backing up the car into a parking spot (blah, thought I'd notice it when leaving the car).
and when leaving the party at midnight, my car didn't start. and the NOCO was easy peezy and started it back up.
Used some of the chinese starters that only worked 50% of the time in the past (but fakely reported 100% battery during those times then suddenly dropped to 0%).

I imagine this thing with a lithium battery being left in a hot car on a daily basis would probably degrade the battery pretty quickly.

Hence why I suggested getting one of the 2-4 LiFePo4 models above. If you keep traditional non-LFP in your car, and it gets hot, it'll last 1-3 years tops.

Not to mention be more of a hazard with bloat, which LFPs don't even do.

LFPs handle the heat better and survive 3x to 5x longer. Never buying another non-LFP for a car.

I've used a handful of cheap jump starter packs on smaller 4 cylinder engine vehicles over the years. But how would something like this perform attempting to start an 8 cylinder pickup truck engine? I presume the current advertised is probably bogus compared to what it can actually output.
