Be sure to research T-Mobile's locking policy and the fine print of the agreement. Basically you are locking yourself and the phone for 2 years with absolutely no way to unlock it, you can't pay off early, and you will be stuck with T-Mobile for years or you lose the bill credits.

See previous threads here on T-Mobile. They have become really consumer unfriendly in the last couple of years.
1) To check if your plan qualifies, log in and see if you have the promotion... verify by submitting your trade-in phone estimate. It's common sense. YES, most likely Simple Choice plan will qualify for this.

2) Phone cannot be cracked in the screen and no moisture/water damage. Also, cannot have destroyed pixels and dead spots. The back of the phone can have some wear & tear and cracks.

3) Best deal is to buy a Samsung S10 from eBay for your trade-in. This promotion will probably last another two weeks based on what they are saying from the subreddit.

4) You can get $100 Costco cashcard for being a Costco member. You can call or in-store. I've done both. I would probably call as it was quicker and just as simple. You also don't need to bring the phone with you. Just an IMEI. Just make sure the phone you are submitting qualifies or else you're going to be in a heap of trouble submitting the IMEI of a phone that might come cracked, etc.,

5) You can ship your trade-in phone or bring it in to a T-Mobile corporate store. Just tell them you have a phone to trade in... They will do basic checks and automatically approve your phone for trade-in on the spot. Saves you the hassle of UPS losing your trade-in phone during shipment.

Most of these questions have been asked... Just look at the old T-Mobile thread from two weeks ago.
Sprint would have free new iPhones with trade-ins with same 2 year commitment. T-Mobile also a few years back. This, their best offer, plain sucks!

No. I paid cash. Just added insult to injury.

I'm trading in a 13pro for a 16pro. Monthly is for 24 months. The guys at Costco said they take out $165 and apply it to the price of the phone. and give you $335 in bill credits.
that's the problem, you are trading in a high value phone
$165 comes out of your monthly bill on the spot and the rest will be about $14 per month in bill credit.

buy an s10, you get about $40-$50 on the spot credited and then around $14.60 in bill credits per month

Sell that 13 pro for a minimum of $250-300 depending on the condition.

do this at Costco and submit the $100 Costco cash card which technically pays for your s10e and also get the $35 connection fee waived.

that's what I did. I purchased 4 cheap Samsung phones. I personally would not trade in an iPhone 13 and above. I have a spare iPhone 12 and I didn't even want to submit that as a trade in.

very tempting.. showing $500 credit for my iphone 13 ..per month installment is around $4.16 per month for 24 months. What I don't like is I confirmed with TMo that they will no unlock for international travel within 24 months and if I pay off the $100 my credits would stop..
I agree that wouldn't be able to use Iphone for 24 months for international travel is a big deal breaker. I am not even plan to move to other carrier but I will need to use my phone for international travel.

Makes it tempting to switch to the T-Mobile MVNO which doesn't deprioritize.

One of the first statements in that link is "take it with a grain of salt". Perhaps a little premature to ring the alarm bells.
A lot of the Sprint plans under the TMO merger couldn't change before 2024, but really April 2025 due to some agreement with 13 states AGs and some lawsuit.
I am a little worried about taking this deal and then getting shafted if they try to change the old sprint plans

They already increased rates on some legacy plans last year. Not sure who they will target this time. They can still raise rates even on those with price lock. They will just pay the final month's bill if you don't agree.

They usually don't have any deals for legacy plans. Maybe they are preparing to lock people in with this deal.

Good deal. Just traded our 4-year old 13 mini's on our Magenta Military plan. Went thru Costco. Just received $125 per trade credited to T- mobile account plus will receive billing credits for the remaining $375. In addition, expect to receive a $100 gift card per phone from Costco. Will work out to $329 per iPhone 16 - 256gb.

Thats crazy…why would you ever trade in the 13 pro max??

Buy a $100 samsung s10e and sell 13PM privately - you would be $400 better off. Even apple gives you trade in of $350 for a 13 pro max

No-one should be trading in a phone worth more than $100 for this
Agreed. Wife had an iPhone 12 that is probably worth $250-300, depending. I have a lot of s10e's (favorite phone). I traded in one of my s10e's for her to get an iPhone 16. Now I can keep the 12 for later, or just sell it on swappa.

Super agree. On Simple Choice x decades. I traded in a S9 for a Pixel 9 several months ago. Amazing $800 value.

And I just used this deal to trade in a S10e for an iPhone 16 256gb. Not as great a value, but $500 credit is unheard of for that old phone.

I'm not going to front man $35 connection fee kills it for me. They are literally just switch the connection with a push of a few keystrokes. T mobile is nickel and dime-ing.

That's what makes this crazy. I am being offered the deal. Which is crazy. I would be trading in the free pixel 6's they gave me when they forced me over to TMO. my bill is still only $25 after all taxes and fees for two lines. One of the old sprint plans and free lines.
I am worried it's a bait and switch, I'll take the offer and they will up the rate later this year after the 5 year merger settlement expires. So far they haven't touched my plans .

How good it could be? Just save $200 at most. Plus getting a phone locked for two years. Before their phone unlock in 40 days. But they don't do it any more.
