Definitely. It's very fast for a quad-core. UHD 730 should be fine for old games or non-gaming:

I hate how these only have 1 HDMI and 1 VGA… severely gimping the 2nd screen.

Serious question, what advantages does this desktop offer that an equivalent specs & priced laptop doesnt? These specs are $250 laptop prices (I3, 8gb ram, 256gb ssd - youre not getting a monitor/screen), wouldn't it be better getting a laptop & use as a dock station ie. My Asus f515 i3 sits in my keyboard tray connected to monitor acting as a PC.
If you don't need to tote a PC around a desktop is almost always going to be a more reliable and long term device. More space for air and cooling and more modular/universal to maintain (though some laptops are better about this last bit).

Not sure what a person's age or parental status has to do with your question, I fit both of those criteria. If you mean will this work as a web browser, YouTube viewer, Office app general purpose machine, it looks to be fine for that, although I'd upgrade the 8GB to 16GB, probably cheaper to do that post-purchase as the first 16GB version of this model is ~$100 more. Specs indicate "Two DDR4 UDIMM slots, dual-channel capable".

Looks like a 16GB DDR4 3200MHz kit is $28 on Amazon, but I'd check clearance and avoid anything with heatsinks as space is often at a premium in these SFF machines.

Please link an equivalent spec'd and priced laptop, that will help any comparison considerably. Speaking generically, it's very rare to get same specs + same price laptop vs. desktop; almost always more bang for buck with a desktop. Get the laptop if you want portability, get the desktop if you plan on it being stationary and want higher reliability/expandability/etc...

He never said that parental status had anything to do with it, he just mentioned that it's for his parents. And age does have a lot to do with what the average person does with a pc. Most older people don't care about gaming, or editing.

Is this significantly better than i3-12100? I haven't kept up with CPU cycles. This is for an always on home server for NVR.
