This comes with much more than what you get with the remastered collection. I guess it depends on how much nostalgia you have for the games. I have a lot from sitting in my computer lab in school and playing with my techy friends. We were allowed to skip classes since we set up a lot of computer stuff at school. It was great.

So this probably isn't really worth it? Were the base games at least updated to run better on modern systems?

It's still worth it if you don't have all the games.

"For King and Country"

Will have to see if playable on Steam Deck, wouldn't mind playing Red Alert again

Love these games, and you can mod them too. I downloaded the "Rise of the Reds" Mod pack and it turns Zero Hour into an even more awesome experience. Adds Russia and a bunch of new vehicles, helicopters, planes, and buildings for GLA, USA, and China

I loved them as a child running on 80386, but it was somewhat disappointing in 2024, especially with the CPU AI.

Sounds like you had an amazing school experience! These games definitely take me back too.

Would there be anyway to play this on a m1 Mac? I'm not a gamer, but I'd really like to replay these and I only have Mac's.

The source code for several of these games was just released, including Generals and Zero Hour.

https://games.slashdot.org/story/...quer-games

How that will affect things going forward isn't clear to me yet. Per the comments in that thread, the source code allows one to compile the binaries (executables) but you still need the assets (game maps, artwork) for an actual playable game. Per another comment, you still need to own the game -- and specifically quotes this line from the compilation instructions: "To use the compiled binaries, you must own the game. The C&C Ultimate Collection is available for purchase on EA App or Steam."

Hopefully someone who knows better can comment.
