HVAC filters are not meant to filter the air in your home. They are meant to protect the unit. Get an air purifier.

It's nice, but I kind of wish I had the Merv three or four or something

my air conditioning unit is limping along from 2000, and I feel like anything more than a spun fiberglass puts it in its death throws

I have a big 4" wide filter for the main unit so these filters usually aren't needed or cause a restriction. But, we now have a german shepherd that just sprays out hair like he's a porcupine defending itself. It lust needs to serve as a pre-filter.

can I by 5 20" x 25" x 1" instead, or I should stick with original size?

$42 out-the-door with military discount. Great price that comes around maybe 2x per year and then I stock up. Write date on them with sharpie and change at least every three months depending on time of year

I bought a 3pk of the 20 x 24 x 1 in December. Is this such an uncommon size they don't sell them in the 12pk? Seems odd they limit the sizes.
