That's the way it was from the start. No idea why it was in store only or if there were any changes from this model and the other with the same specs available online.
That's how I did it too with the coupon. Was only swinging in for a freebie item when I saw the come-along in the back. Can't say no at that price!
I've used it for pulling stumps out of the ground.
Here's what ai says:
Key applications of a power puller:
Vehicle recovery: Pulling stuck vehicles out of mud, snow, or ditches.
Construction work: Aligning beams, pulling heavy objects into position, tightening cables
Landscaping: Moving large rocks, pulling tree stumps, straightening fences
Boat maintenance: Anchoring a boat, pulling a boat onto a trailer
Industrial applications: Pulling heavy machinery, repositioning large equipment

One of those things where when you need it you'll know. I've used one to lift telephone poles off the ground, pull fallen trees that are hung up, extract my jon boat when it sunk, extract vehicles stuck in snow and other similar situations. If you're the type to own a generator or a chainsaw "just in case," this is another little secret weapon to help negotiate life's little (or big) "oh crap" misadventures.

A 2 ton would be big enough to pull shrubs. I used a slightly smaller coffin hoist for exactly that back in 2020 or 2021.
If you ever put up fencing, think wire or welded wire mesh, you'll want something like this to easily tension it.
What I use mine most for and every year now, is when I refill my 15 gallon transfer tank once every spring. Once it's full of gas and over 100lbs, a hoist or one of these makes it easy to lift up onto the high shelf I keep it on so it'll gravity feed quickly. Ever since switching from cans to a tank with hose and nozzle, it's been one of the best additions to my garage ever. I wish I'd gotten one sooner. The only downside is I'm not 25 anymore. Placing a sloshing 100+ lb tank onto a shelf at shoulder level by myself is much easier with one of these.
