Specs look decent on paper, until you realize that this is limiting the TDP of the GPU, and the power adapter is only rated for a max of 120W. Seems pretty bad when Asus had their G14 series pushing more power in a smaller chassis, for years.

RAM is supposed to be fully upgradable though - 2 slots.

Lots of people reporting issues with the MSI rebates though, specifically from the $200 MIR laptops - even with evidence of valid submissions. Doesn't appear to be worth the headache for the lower performing product, and the battle of trying to get your rebate, without spending more than $200 on legal expenses.

Honestly, I'm surprised rebates are even a thing again. I haven't done a MIR in over a decade now. They seemed dead.

1080p is fine for the screen size, especially with the lower power gpu. A 45w 4060 with 1440 144hz would suck at native

Correct, 45W. People have flashed higher TDP vBIOS, but then you need to tune things perfectly to prevent the laptop from switching over to battery mode as it begins to approach 120W total system power draw.

45W should be around 70% the performance of the 115W 4060. It's about in the middle between a 4050 and full power laptop 4060.

If this was $700 out the door, no rebate, I think it'd be a fine price if a person is okay with the screen, and you don't get one with excessive backlight bleed.

I would have put up with the screen and rebate if it was 32 gun for $60 more

People saying, "1080p in 2025." 🙄 While I don't like 1080p, the vast majority of people couldn't care less about anything higher.

1080 makes sense on a laptop screen. Lower res with high settings and high framerate is always the play.

Why stop there? You viewing this thread on an old 480p monitor? No?
So the argument for everyone owning a dually pickup* is using a wheel barrel instead? LOL...okay.

Show us where 4K is the "standard" on a 15" laptop with a decent GPU / CPU combo for $700. I'll wait.

If you want 4K, a full size keyboard, 34" ultra widescreen etc....there are ports for that stuff. A laptop by design is a bundle of compromises...especially at $700.

And like someone else pointed out this laptop is clearly geared for gaming so a lower resolution makes sense so you can take advantage of the refresh rate (with similar FPS) at achievable *native* resolutions. I highly doubt this laptop will pump out 144+ FPS @ 4K for many games otherwise you are trading specs on a piece of paper over real world function. If gaming isn't your thing the you probably (not certainly though) do not care that much about the 4060.

*I predict the reply centering around my analogy and not the actual point being conveyed...always the hallmark of a good rebuttal Wink

Steam hardware results shows that more than 50% of primary monitors are 1080p today.

1440p has gained a lot of ground in the past year, nearly 30%

4K as a primary monitor? Just 3%, hardly the standard
