I have this bag and 40° rating is absolutely correct. Definitely not a winter bag but for $12, hard to go wrong with a lightweight bag

I bought this too and it isn't bad for the money. The zipper is not that great though. I guess you get what you pay for.

I wouldn't go camping in this unless it like a hot summer camping trip.

But for a sleeping bag that you stash in the cars for emergencies? Not my first pick but for $12 that seems to be fairly reasonable.

if it's cold, sleep in your jacket and bring snow pants. snow pants are good if the weather turns bad too.

if you're car camping, just bring a heater ....

Went camping in this tent last weekend! Its not super thick but it gets very small, is easy to carry around. Works good down to 55F which is what I tested this weekend. Good value for half of my cheapest sleeping bag liner.

IIRC, the general rule of bag temperature ratings was more of a survivability standard and not a comfort rating, with a 40F bag being a typical summer use bag (or indoor use bag).
