This board being made of glued together planks, there is adhesive between them. I can't speak to the food grade quality of the adhesive or the overall cleanliness of the board regarding pathogens, etc. I personally would sanitize it with a shower of boiling water after a good cleaning upon receipt, just to err on the safe side. That being said, most natural wood products like this come from overseas these days and you can't spend your day worrying about all the possibilities. It's probably safer than many restaurant food prep surfaces, which often are neglected or subject to lax practices like allowing raw food to touch the same surfaces as cooked food.
