I appreciate fitness machines, but this one is designed to solve no problems.

explain? seems like you'd be able to get a great stretch at the bottom, and converging is a big plus.

To me, dumbbells will hit better on all the things you mentioned than this unit.

I can see your point. I wish my gym had something like this because sometimes the benches are all taken. If I had a home gym, at this price, I'd get it.

I have one of these. I originally purchased it as I had shoulder pain and read that these are great for that...and it was good at the start, I was able to load up more & more weight over the weeks, getting past a plateau I was stuck in...but then started having shoulder pain again. I think it was due to the fact that in normal bench, you start with the eccentric, lowering the weight from the rack/hook. But with this machine, you have to start from the concentric, pushing the weight from the very bottom of the movement, right off your chest, at the very beginning. Overall it's ok, but getting to your max gets hard due to starting at the concentric phase of the movement IMO. Also, trying to use this for shrugs or overhead/shoulder presses is very awkward.
