I got one of these two weeks ago. The 'A' grade I received still had scratches on the bottom and around the USB-C ports. Other than that, it works. There are two NMVe M.2 2280 slots, two DIMM slots, one empty WWAN slot, and an area for a 2.5" SATA drive.

This is a nice 'baby' Precision, as the 7-series maybe too big/heavy, while the 5-series does not include a 10-key. I had no idea it would have an extra NMVe slot and there's a chance you can put another SSD (SATA or NMVe?) into the M.2 2242 WWAN slot. I was able to install the OEM nVidia RTX T600 driver from nVidia's site. The BIOS settings are very comprehensive, but no overlocking ability. For some reason THIS [amazon.com] RAM does not work in the 3561 (five white flashes, then two amber flashes, in loop). I will try THESE [amazon.com]shortly. You'll need an extra M.2 screw to secure it in the laptop if you want more than one M.2 2280 SSD in there.

You'll need to buy the caddy and cable if you want to use an SATA drive:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/36511505...4759059367

It seems, if you want to use the larger capacity battery, then it will take up the space from the 2.5" SATA drive. Internet says if you buy the large capacity battery, then you will also need a special cable, not included with the battery purchase from Dell directly.

Microsoft just removed WIN11 support on 10th generation Intel processors and lower. So, this 11th Gen Intel CPU is the minimal way-to-go!

Is the build quality Business like or Consumer like? consumer quality is what you get in a budget laptop at walmart/costco : lightweight, cheap plastic, hinges/ports prone to breaking, low screen brightness etc

also is this a good laptop for WFH IT professional or more for a gamer/student?
processor rating is solid 20k for a sub-400 laptop.
There is good use of plastics on the 3561. If you want a true "road warrior", then you need to consider the 7-series, as the cases are made outta magnesium and the such. Also, 7-series weighs a ton! Lenovo ThinkPads are also another option for "road warrior" gear.

Why buy Precision line? My thought is longer support on software / hardware by the vendors; different build options, at least with the 7-series.... you pay for all of this, tho. Precision line is generally more expensive for the flexibility it gives you.

Can you post a link for that? Just wondering because the Microsoft link below still shows 8700s still supported:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us...processors
From your article:

Editor's Note: Updated February 27, 2025 This Learn page is continually updated to reflect the Intel® processor models that meet the minimum system requirements for Windows 11. It is intended for OEMs and ODMs to understand the following CPUs may be used for new Windows 11 devices. A page update made on February 13, 2025 did not reflect accurate offerings. It has since been updated, including the addition of Intel® processor models 8th, 9th, and 10th generation Intel® CPUs, and the reclassification for select Intel® processor models to support Windows 11.
This is news to me. This also means I wasted money by buying a 11th gen processor when I could have bought a 10th gen one!! Mad

Not bad. This will replace my ancient, 2013, 1st generation Z-Book.

those are separate from dell.com, so likely it won't stack

Thanks for reading - which I normally fail at. I just scrolled down to the table/list of processors and see the old gen CPUs listed.

I checked Dell's website and there doesn't seem to be a 4K LCD available for this model. That's a shame previous generations offered one.

No, that's a half-truth that was widely misreported last month, and subsequently debunked. What happened was that Microsoft updated a guidance document *for OEMs*, advising them that NEW devices must be manufactured using 11th-gen or greater Intel processors. However, the list of Intel processors *supported* for Windows 11 continues to include 8th, 9th, and 10th-generations (as well as a few late and uncommon 7th-gen processors).

I think you might find an inspiron, but not a latitude, and definitely not a precision.

None of these are going to have a discreet GPU for that price. I paid $418 total for a 3561 with a 4GB RTX T600. That might not seem like much but if you do any photo or video editing, or even some light gaming, that discreet GPU will fair much better. I say discreet but i just mean it has a good low powered Nvidia GPU built right in with gtx1050/ti performance, gddr6, and new technology support. The 12800H uses the Intel Iris G7/XE or something? That T600 is going to be 100% to 200% faster.

I typed in my service tag at Dell and found this little tidbit of information under detailed specifications.

"Windows 10 Pro. (Includes Windows 11 Pro License)"
