These are still good for 90% of the crowd with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD. But S&D is a bummer.

I may be missing something, but nowhere on the product description do I see where it says "M1"; it could be an older Intel chipset.

I would NOT buy an Intel MacBook Air at this point. (Whereas if this is truly an M1 with 16 gigs and 512, it's a good deal.)

Would be careful about buying an Intel-based MacBook at this point (which I'm concerned this may be...)

I get that and didn't bother to click the Woot link, but this could possibly not be M1.

This "should" be non-Intel as it references Wi-Fi 6 and the latest Intel-based (2020) came with Wi-Fi 5 (ac).
However, omitting the chip altogether is pretty suspect.

And you are saying that on what basis exactly, without even bothering to click on the link? Maybe try doing that first.
In the comment/review section, one of the buyers has mentioned how M1 in this particular model is so much better than the previous Intel models.

Who knows what this is.

Especially since it says it is a MacBook Air at the top of the description, but it says it is a MacBook Pro down below as what's included.

If you click the reviews, they all are for the M1 chip.

I found the original listing on Amazon and it looks like that config (space gray, 16GB/512GB) is for an i7 2020 Intel model. Note the "858" reviews (how I deduced it's the same seller). That seller also lists more expensive configs with M chips - I think all the reviews get lumped together, hence the reviews stating it's an M chip. Those are actually other models, selling for more. V. confusing.

This is tablet price territory, 16GB/512 and Apple Silicon is nice.

How's woot return policy if it's not in a good condition?

I'm on the fence with this. It's good specs for the price but Woot S&D is so hit or miss. Sometimes you get a mint condition with 99% batt cap, other times you get one that's been through war and 86%. With eBay or Best Buy "refurbished" I prefer to buy two or three, check the condition and battery life, keep the one that's the best and return the others. With Woot returns and refunds are a total pain. Sometimes they just offer you credit or partial refund.

Solid deal for this config of the M1 if the condition isn't too rough. As someone who recently hunted these for a family member, I can tell you BB sells the refurbished 8gb model for $445, Back Market listings are routinely $420 and up (occasionally dipping lower but not lasting long), and eBay is a jungle you've gotta hunt through for one in decent condition from a reputable seller -- at prices typically on this range and not often lower. I got one locally on FB marketplace for $360 but that comes with its own special challenges and due diligence lol
