It's 2000mah less capacity (25000 vs 27000) and smaller size wise compared to the other model. These get really hot if you charge/discharge at full 100W or 140W so smaller isn't necessarily better since there's less area for heat dissipation. I'm waiting for the bigger model to go below $40 again.

It's 2000mah less capacity (25000 vs 27000) and smaller size wise compared to the other model. These get really hot if you charge/discharge at full 100W or 140W so smaller isn't necessarily better since there's less area for heat dissipation. I'm waiting for the bigger model to go below $40 again.

It's doubtful anything not made by Dell would ever go beyond the PD spec which is 5A max. Cables have to be thicker to support higher amps and it'd be a fire liability if a power bank pushed 6.5A through a 5A cable that a manufacturer might cheap out on copper.

For a brief while these were made.

I asked the USB IF about the legality of these. They said it was permissible to break spec, so long as third party devices maintain the spec limit.

In other words, a Dell charger and cable can break spec with a Dell laptop, but have to maintain spec limit with an iPad or Surface.

Presumably Dell had some e-marker on the cable - or extensive testing to ensure e-marked 5A cables can universally handle 6.5Amp.

I'm pretty sure laptop manufacturers like Dell get away with it only because the cable is captive, i.e. you can't unplug the other side of the cable from the charger. That ensures you don't plug in a standard 5A cable that couldn't handle it. Does your charger have a USB-C cable that detaches?

From my experience most of them have a fixed cable that exclusively provides the charge.

The OEM opens up big liability otherwise. That said, we got to 65W at 20V/3.25A because some people pushed the envelope that extra 0.25A. Just as Apple did early on with 1Amp over USB-A.

140W out seems kinda pointless because it can only supply that for like 30mins. (25ahr*3.8v is like 90whr, and then some efficieny loss).
I'd rather have a bigger brick that does less power at higher efficiency
