- thermal throttling as this thing is an extremely dumb design with NO CPU COOLING FAN INSIDE. The space where the cooling fan is in the i7 version is literally empty in the i5...
They struggle with Teams / Zoom calls after 60 seconds into the call (once the CPU overheats). The paging file is also huge, so you need to keep 40GB of free space on that tiny SSD at all times just to make up for the lack of RAM. The SSD in these is NOT swappable, unlike in later models.
Buy an i7 SP9 with 16GB of RAM and CPU cooling for $646 instead when the below deal comes back. We got brand new units with a "Certified Refurbished" label on the box. They only had 30 minutes on the clock (presumably for QC):
