Yours leaves 1/2" of water, one posted is only 1/16". This is a BIG difference in a big area.

So, when yours is done, you are still waking in water. Yet 1/16" can be collected with a rag..

Is that why this is pricier than others? 1/6hp for $70 sump pump is generally not a good deal

Yes that low ending measure means a TON for some tasks. Else u gotta get a shopvac or worse for the last 1/2". Definitely dont need this pump for low volume drainage tasks

This thing is awesome. Saved my garage from flooding several times from atmospheric river rainfall until we had a chance to install new drains.

Any recommendations for ones that drain down to similar depth but have automatic power on and off?

Pool cover pumps. The Everbuilt 1/4 hp works well. Remove the removable base. Home Depot has it currently at an obscene price. Their website is beginning to feel like a casino. You can easily find them new on eBay for $75 shipped.

1/6hp is pretty weak isn't it? My sump pump is 1/3hp.

i have a 2 1/2" shop vac for draining the top of my pool after winter (melted ice on the cover), think this'll do a better job or just stick with my shopvac?

This will do a comparable job (maybe a little worse actuislly), but it will be a lot quicker and easier to deal with them a shop vac.
