I recently returned my oura4 after 3 weeks with it. A couple of thoughts (paid version):

The data is summarized and individual data points on spO2 and heart rate aren't accessible
The ring scratches pretty easily (I chose basic silver)
Actual battery life is more like 3-4 days
Ring is quite comfortable and light
Customer service is top notch
Sleep tracking is very accurate
Bestbuy pickup and return is seamless

Ultimately I returned it because I wanted to see more data. It's nice to see I've had 6 interrupted sleeping events, but show me what my blood oxygen was for them. I would also like for it to allow blood oxygen monitoring during activity and to tell me what my heart rate was at any given time, not a summarized range.

If oura would share the raw data with the end user, I would have kept the ring. As a paid service, it simply wasn't telling me enough specific information.

Good deal. I use the gen4 ring and an apple watch; I find the oura app to be more insightful. If you tweak your sharing permissions, the oura data interfaces with Apple health (and vice versa) incredibly well.

Don't forget that oura ring is hsa/fsa approved, and so is the subscription.

I'm really interested in what this ring actually adds to the information I already receive free with the price of hardware on my Apple Watch (Ultra2).

$70/year plus a ~$250 ring that apparently gets scratched easily is quite a bit of extra money. Plus one more expensive thing to charge and lose. As much as I like useful toys, the specs seem fairly redundant.

I have a gen 2 with all the paid stuff for free. Do they allow you to swap to a newer ring and not have to pay for a subscription?
I'm not sure, if you still have the account tied to the gen 2, try logging in to see if it gives you any information about continuing the grandfathered subscription to gen 4.

Thanks for the reply. I switched over to Apple Watches many years ago to handle my sleep tracking and have never had a model that couldn't make it through the night. I charge it up upon awakening when I shower, takes roughly half an hour or less.

Wrist temp and O2 are on my model, plus I'm a guy, so that eliminates menstrual tracking needs for me.
For me I just can't wear any watch during my sleep so it is a good deal

I have had an Oura ring since Oura Ring 2 then 3. Never in those years, it has actually caught me getting sick. Never.
It is a nice to have but if you are serious about training get a Garmin or a Pixel Watch3
I don't think anyone is conflating oura ring and serious training.

Cover it with a ring protector to prevent scratching. You can buy a ring protector from Amazon.

Would love to own one, but the subscription kills it for me. Rocking an Ultrahuman ring, and it's been a nice companion to my AWU2.

So did mine. Looks like for stricter FSAs, the full year sub needs to be prepaid at the time of ring purchase and billed through the "sika" third party processor.

I honestly tired of those subscription model business. Like its everywhere.
I want this ring, but paying monthly annoys me so much. because you pay 10$ here, 15$ there and 5$ there and out of nowhere you spend 300$ on subscriptions.

Could you tell us more? Oura is on my radar, but like you said sub kills it. This looks comparable w/o the sub?

That's what I did when I bought it yesterday. No issues in adding yearly subscription and sizing and putting everything on my FSA card.

Even though this is a decent deal, I can't imagine myself upgrading to a v4 without an extended warranty. Lots of people have had these v4 rings fall apart plus all versions of the rings are notorious for battery issues.

After warranty+shipping+tax the ring is still over $320. I think I'll just stick with the version 3 that I had replaced last year.
